Last weekend, Alex, Betsy the Chihuahua and I took a little break and headed up to Suffolk for a few days. Seeing more of the UK is a big part of our 2013 plan and it ties in nicely with our new Dog Friendly UK blog, which we will be launching over the next few weeks.
We’ve had Betsy for about five months now and have spent quite a lot of that time looking into places that we can take her along with us. Whether it be a pub, a hotel or even a high street store – You name it, we’ve been testing it, to see how dog friendly they are, so our life doesn’t change to much with a puppy in tow.
We like a little bit of luxury, so our dog friendly locations need to suit us, just as much as they do the dog. We don’t want to be restricted to the countryside, as we like to do things other than walk with Betsy and if we can find fun things to do in a city, then we will be there in a shot!
So far, we’ve been pretty lucky with Betsy because she is a small dog and many shops in London allow us to take her inside, if we ask. We have found a few great local pubs that allow dogs and we may have spent a few long afternoons lounging with a pint and a puppy!
Anyway, we chose Suffolk last weekend, as we needed a nice relaxing break after Alex’s tough few weeks at work. It was just what the doctor ordered and we had all had a great time checking out Ipswich, Aldeburgh and Bury St Edmunds. Not everywhere was to our taste, but the hotels we chose to stay in were lovely. We were also very lucky with the weather, considering all the snow and flooding that has been around of late.
I won’t go into too much detail about what we did, as it will be going up on the new blog soon, but here are some pictures for you to see…
If you’d like to follow our Dog Friendly UK blog, then we are here on Twitter for now and of course you will be the first to know when we launch.
