I do… Not.

I was recently asked to be a bridesmaid at a close friend’s wedding, in a few years time. I’m extremely happy they thought of me; However, I was just sitting here wondering… Could I quite possibly be added to a list of the oldest bridesmaids going? I’ll be 36 years old when the wedding happens – No spring chicken, that’s for sure. Don’t old and wrinkly bridesmaids ruin the pictures? I’m not a seasoned wedding goer, but there certainly haven’t been any oldies in the pictures I’ve seen –  I don’t think my friend thought this one through!

This wedding of theirs has also brought up a million questions from family and friends, about when our ‘big’ day will happen. Simple answer… No time soon. It’s just not my thing. I’m not allowed to do it alone, with just me, Alex and the cat as a witness, so I’m more than happy to live a life plodding along as we do. Alex didn’t ask me to marry him anyway. He knew it wasn’t for me, so he asked me to engage him. For that, I am exceedingly grateful.

I won’t love the man any less (or any more) for giving me a wedding day, and I’m happy to invest in other things, rather than a day that will make me feel awkward and uncomfortable. I’m a private person when it comes to emotions, and I personally don’t need to stand up in front of anyone to declare my love. It’s just the way I am.

I am however,  in it for the long haul.  Lucky you Alex. Lucky you!

The many years of us…

BIG congrats to Chris and Mel on their engagement. I’ll be rushing out to book surgery soon, so I don’t ruin those pics! x

I missed out the half. I’ll be 36 and a half! Happy to hear that I might not possibly be in such a small gang :)
