Dry Lip Saviours

I’m not quite sure how it  happened, but I seem to have accumulated quite an array of lip care products. Last weekend, I was having a little clear out of my dressing table and just kept pulling out one after the other… Where are those dry lip saviours when you actually need them, eh? Not in my bag, that’s for sure!

Unfortunately, I often suffer from dry cracked lips, even though I drink a lot of water and try very hard to keep out of the winter wind. For many years, I have just used the original Vaseline tin, but somewhere along the way my collection seems to have been growing from one tin to all of this… and there are definitely more floating about somewhere in this house.

Dry Lip Saviours

My most recent purchases were two Maybelline Baby Lip Balm Repair sticks. I’m currently using them daily as I work from home and they just add a bit of glam to my day face. I tend not to wear make-up unless i leave the house, so it’s great to add a  little lip colour to brighten things up. They provide nice sheer colour that you can build on, which isn’t greatly long lasting, but make my lips feel soft and hydrated for a lot longer. They smell amazing and are just £2.99 – Often on offer in both Boots and Superdrug.

Who hasn’t had one of these Vaseline tins at one point or another… I’m not so keen on the smell of the Pink Bubbly and I don’t think I’d buy it again. However, I love the Paint The Town red lip tint. It’s great for using when I’m working outside on the club door, as there’s never enough time to whip out a mirror and apply more lipstick (yes, I need a mirror for lipstick application). I use the original on my elbows, face and hands as well, which is certainly not something you want to do with the tint!

I’m in two minds about the Ren Vita Mineral Lip Balm. On one hand it’s a great balm – very thick and long lasting on the lips – but then there is the hefty £9 price tag to consider. I guess it’s larger than some other balms and will last longer, but it’s always hard to part with that amount of money when other cheaper products have the same effects. I love the tube and for some reason I find myself applying it more often when it’s in my bag because it feels really great. Not the best tactic for something so expensive.

Finally, not much to say about these two really, other than I keep them by my bed and they are my absolute best solutions for chapped lips. Best used overnight for lovely soft morning lips.

Thank you for this post. I’ve been a fan of Carmex for many years, but have recently been using a boots lip balm stick which has been ok, not amazing. I’ve given it to my sister, so I’ll be needing something else.

I love the blistex Intensive Moisturiser Hydrating Lip cream stuff – I have about three in various places as I tend to lose them and re-find them. They’re the best I have found and I love the tingly feeling.

Hey Zoe- I’ve been a fan of Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream for years, but not of the price tag…!! Whilst I was living in New Zealand I discovered something called Paw Paw cream- it’s originally from Australia and cost me a mere $4 or $5 a tube…. I get my rellies to send it over now but think you can buy it off amazon?? I cannot recommend it highly enough- it can be used for nappy rash, insect bites, burns, cuts etc and it is made from fresh fermented papaya. I use it on my lips and also when my son has bad nappy rash (not out of the same tube mind you ;) ) I’ll take a picture of it and tag you on Instagram. I don’t think it’s that well known over here although I saw an article about it a while ago on the daily mail website as Holly Willoughby uses it or someone like that!! Honestly- you’ll throw your other lip care out the window once you’ve tried this stuff ;)

Ah Yes, Elizabeth Arden is expensive, but I find one tube lasts me FOREVER! Thanks for this. I’ll definitely take a look as I have friends in Oz too. Handy! ;)
