Day Five In Brooklyn New York

On our last full day in New York, we packed up our cases and left our apartment in Chelsea for Hotel Le Jolie in Williamsburg. We were planning on taking the subway, but couldn’t face lugging all the bags in the heats so hopped in a cab. I’m glad we did, as we got to see more of the city without walking it! Unfortunately we haven’t had enough time to cover everywhere we’d have liked to, but I think we’ve done pretty well in all.

The Hotel Le Jolie is in a fab location for Williamsburg and is good value, compared to the high prices of all other NYC hotels. We turned up at 11.30am just to drop off our luggage, but they allowed us to check in right away, which was a great, as rooms are usually ready for 3pm. The service was excellent and the room has everything you need for a short stay.

After dropping off our bags, we hit the subway and headed to the Park Slope area of Brooklyn and then spent a bit of time enjoying the glorious weather in Prospect park. That was followed by a visit to the Brooklyn Public Library for  a quick peek…

Next stop, a late lunch (still trying to digest from yesterdays feast!) at Smoke Joint in Forte Green.
A pure meat feast – ribs for Alex and pulled pork, slaw and pickles for me. All delicious.

Later in the day we went back to Williamsburg and moseyed around the streets, soaking up the vibe in the ‘capital of cool’. I could definitely see myself living here and would probably say this has been our favourite spot of the trip so far. Just very laid back and with more space to breath and take things easy. I wouldn’t say you need more than a few days here as a tourist, but think it would be a great place to live. I’d also recommend you come on a weekend as there were a few things we couldn’t do on a Monday.

When we could walk no more, we sat in East River State Park and soaked up the amazing views of Manhattan’s skyline.

No visit would be complete without a visit to the Mast Brothers Chocolate shop. We may have picked up a bar or two to enjoy when we’re home. Mmm… Chocolate. I can’t wait to tuck into that little lot – After my post-holiday juice diet that is! #oink.

Strolled around some more…

… Before stopping for amazing cocktails at the Roebling Tea Room.

Williamsburg we love you. Now we’re off for a very late dinner on day five in New York.

I’ve been a bit rushed on this post I’m afraid, but will try and fill in any gaps on my return with one last NYC post. I’ve even surprised myself with the daily posts. Not such a useless blogger after all ;)

Thanks for sticking with me! x
