A Weekend of Gin and Pub Lunches

I can tell it’s going to be on those weeks… I’ve woken up with a cold and it is finally the week of my dreaded dentist appointment. I’m not sure if they can do the work whilst I’m ill, so here’s hoping me cold shifts quickly and I can get this over and done with. I had a pretty enjoyable weekend though, so I mustn’t moan and groan just because it’s Monday!

I had another weekend with no club door work, so on Friday my sister came to stay for the night and we finally sampled a few glasses of Hoxton Gin – Gin lovers everywhere have slated this drink because it isn’t quite the norm. At first I was on their side, but found I slowly warmed to it. The strong grapefruit and coconut flavours make it taste more like a Malibu, but I’m good with that… It was on offer after all! I’d probably buy it again, but as it usually sells for over £25 I probably won’t go out of my way to buy it unless I see it reduced in price again. There is currently £8 off a 70cl bottle in Sainsbury’s, so if you are keen to give it a go then you know where to look folks!

The rest of the weekend was spent eating and drinking in South London. On Saturday, we moseyed around Crystal Palace trying to soak up any rays of sunshine that we could (along with everyone else). I was trying to convince my sister to move locally, but don’t think she was having a bar of it!  On Sunday, we met friends at The Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich where the food was delicious, but again came with a hefty price tag (£20 for a Beef roast!) – I opted for Lamb, which was about £4.50 cheaper. It was one of the best roasts I have for a while, but I’m certainly not rich enough to do that every weekend. If a delicious pub roast comes in at anything below £12 I’m definitely more than happy to oblige a little more frequently!

The Trafalgar Tavern is dog friendly, which is always a bonus when you have a little Chihuahua in tow. Betsy was rewarded with a nice walk in Greenwich park, and I was then rewarded with a night on the sofa… And that was another weekend over!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Have any of you guys tried Hoxton Gin, and if so what do you think of it?

I don’t like Hoxton, my favourite gin is Hendricks. I got my fiance into gin and now he thinks he is some sort of gin pro, his favourite is Sipsmith. We argue over whose choice is best xx

I think my fav at the moment is Darnley’s view. I’m also partial to a bit of Hendricks :) There are so many gins to try!
